Why we recommend this course

We added this alongside our general nutrition content because sport-specific nutrition is a genuinely different question — timing and quantity matter as much as what you eat when performance is the goal.

Who it's for: anyone training seriously (strength or endurance) who wants their eating to actually support performance, not just general health.

What makes it stand out: it focuses specifically on the type and amount of food athletic performance requires, a level of specificity most general nutrition content skips. That focus is why we chose it as a companion piece.

What you'll get: a framework for eating around training rather than guessing. Not sure how much protein you actually need day-to-day? Our no-hype protein guide is the natural starting point, and our free Eating Personality quiz shows your current patterns.

General education, not personalised sports-nutrition advice — consult a professional for a plan specific to your training.

About this course

Sports nutrition is the study and practice of nutrition and diet with regards to improving one's athletic performance. Nutrition is an important part of many sports training regimens, being popular in strength sports (such as weightlifting and bodybuilding) and endurance sports (e.g. cycling, running, swimming, rowing).  Sports Nutrition focuses its studies on the type, as well as the quantity of fluids and food taken by an athlete. In addition, it deals with the consumption of nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, supplements and organic substances that include carbohydrates, proteins and fats.
